Experts from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension lead a new gardening class each month to help gardeners through practical experience and research based knowledge. This month’s class, “Composting 101,” will be presented by Texas Master Gardener, Robin Yates. Learn the fundamentals of turning everyday yard and kitchen waste into nutrient-rich compost for your garden. Topics will include the basics of building a compost pile, balancing “green” and “brown” materials, maintaining proper moisture and airflow, and troubleshooting common composting challenges. Participants will also learn what can and cannot go into a compost bin, how compost benefits soil health, and simple ways to start composting at home. Meet inside the Mercer Visitor Center.
